Art for the homeschooled tween...

My 12 year old (almost but not quite 13...YIPES!) has an aversion to art. I seriously do not get it. At his age I would spend hours and hours creating, drawing, painting, writing. He absolutely does not want to. Now, if its technology related art then he's more likely to give it a shot. He loves the "ragdoll" type games where he can drag and drop, and he does create hilarious scenes with his "creations." But to put a crayon or marker in that kids hand, you'd think it was attached to the end of a spider!

I'm constantly looking for new and improved ways of teaching him and am just not having much luck combining the free or low cost technology options with his art curriculum. Will still be on the hunt and am taking recommendations!

In the meantime... this looks REALLY FUN to me! http://eisforexplore.blogspot.com/

I love this writer.

And her blog cracks me up. She inspires me not to worry so much about what I look like while I’m working on getting healthy.

Not today unfortunately, but most days.

Chronic...

And I'm not talkin the "good kind" either. Living with a chronic illness changes your whole entire life. No matter what it is; diabetes, cancer, arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, turrets, etc. Nothing will ever be the same. Unfortunately, for some of us this can be even more challenging with multiple diagnosis, or multiple people suffering. This will test even the strongest of families and individuals beyond anything you can imagine.

We have been fortunate enough to have what some people call "Cadillac Insurance." But before that? We nearly went bankrupt on copays and deductibles. And there is no mercy from most physicians or specialists; they want their money. So, you can imagine my frustration when after discovering after 6 long, grueling years of pain and suffering, and trials of expensive ($10k per treatment for one) medication after medication with side effects that include (read in the really fast, quiet voice like on the commercials)- weight gain (55 lbs), hair loss (thinning and grey), memory loss (where was I?), upset stomach (ya think?), loss of interests (education, stained glass, dancing, hiking, all of it..), thoughts of suicide (thank you children for being my light), and depression (duh)... and now I find out that this could have easily been healed with a CHEAP antibiotic ACNE medication? Seriously?...

For those of you fellow sufferers (or if you know ANYONE) with autoimmune disorders/illness that includes Rheumatoid Arthritus, Lupus, Fibromyalgia, etc., READ THIS BOOK...

I just began my new regimen of Minocycline, and incorporating Micronutrients. Hoping its my cure! To be continued...

For any mother this is a beautiful tribute. As a mother with a sick child, for a child with Type I Juvenile Diabetes this really tugs at my heart. Hard to watch without tears!
